Yes, doulas can still be present at a c-section birth whether its planned or unplanned. Some circumstances a doula can be allowed in the operating room. A doula can be a great second pair of hands and encouragement to help you with concerns you have. If your newborn must be taken to the nursery your partner can go with the baby while the doula stays with you in the operating room. If a doula isn’t allowed in the operating room there are many things they can do to help you prepare before the procedure, during and after the baby is born.
